Journal Entry – October 20th, 2021

Forest Path – Night

I was walking along a path leading through a dense forest at night when I encountered someone. The name that keeps coming to mind is Vile, so that’s what I’ll call him. Vile began taunting me or making threats of some kind. Whatever it was he said, it was enough to enrage me. After he had left, I swore that I would find and kill him. Determined to catch up to him, I began charging along the path.

I made my way through the dark forest, consumed by rage as I approached a village or town. The people there greeted me warmly, but I wasn’t having any of it. I asked each person who stopped me where Vile had gone and stormed through the town without a second to waste. I spent little time in the village as I resumed my warpath through the forest.

Eventually, I encountered a waterfall in the midst of a clearing. I knew Vile was at the top of the cliff where the waterfall began, so I searched for a way up. I found a scalable cliff next to the falling water and steadily made my way towards the top. After finally reaching the peak of the cliff I scanned the area for Vile, but he was nowhere to be found. The discovery that Vile was long gone was enough for me to abandon my quest, so I remained there and stood alone at the top of the waterfall.

Forest Path – Day

I found myself back at the very beginning of the same path I had started on, but it was now daytime. Memories of Vile and his threats returned to me and made me want to begin my chase once more. This time though, as I began walking, I heard a voice call out to me from behind. There was a brunette woman with me now, and she asked me what I was doing. I told her about Vile and the plans I had for him, but she said something to the effect of “don’t worry about him.”

The two of us progressed along the same path as before, albeit much slower now that we were walking together. Eventually, we happen upon the same village from before! The people there greeted us warmly again, but this time we moved slowly and spoke with everyone. I’ll admit I was mostly quiet throughout this part of the dream – the girl who was with me did most of the talking. She was a social butterfly! She was constantly approaching people and visiting the various shops they had. I was content simply tagging along.

After a while, we progressed along the path once more with the same destination as the previous iteration – the waterfall. We made our way there and ascended the same cliff I scaled the first time, although the climb was much easier this time around. Upon reaching the top, I found that a lot of people from the village were already there! There were people playing in the shallow water leading to the waterfall, women cooking food for everyone in large pots on the side of the river – it was a welcoming sight.

The brunette woman and I spent time with everyone until at some point, she beckoned me from the other side of a pool of waist high water. I began wading through the water until I reached an area of intense heat that physically pushed me back. I had to wait for it to cool off before proceeding. She was patient and waited for me on the other side.
