The Crypt, The Mastermind, and the Devil

Journal Entry – July 29th, 2025

The dream began in a public lounge area. The room was filled to the brim with people chatting, gaming, and relaxing. I didn’t participate or speak to anyone; I was too busy passing back and forth through the area because I was preoccupied with something. Eventually, I found myself in a hallway with several terminals lining the walls with a friend of mine. We needed to use the terminals to choose a location to retrieve supplies, or assign a new home base, or something similar. There were several options we needed to choose from, but my friend had chosen incorrectly a couple of times so it was my turn.

Each option presented to me was a name of a town or area. Some were a farther distance than others, and the one I had selected was the farthest away. I can’t remember the name of the area I had chosen, but it turned out to be the correct one. The dream transitioned immediately to the new area.

My friend and I stood in a clearing where I had found a large, ominous stone door fixated to the side of a mountain. When I approached the door, I heard a detached voice give me a warning about entering it. I decided to open the door anyways. It began glowing a sickly green color as it slowly gave way for me. The texture of the stone and the sounds it made as the door opened gave me the impression that whatever was inside was terrible.

I now stood at the top of a central stairway that lead to a large tomb-like area. The interior was made entirely of stone with the same green glow emanating from the walls and floor that illuminated the area. In the center of the crypt was a large rectangular pit that was filled with glowing puke-green, churning bile. Surrounding the pit, scattered around the tomb, were these shambling zombies or abominations that didn’t take kindly to the door being opened.

I retrieved or conjured a large bow as they began shuffling towards the stairs I was standing at the top of. I used it to launch arrows at the creatures while my friend assisted elsewhere. Eventually, the “mastermind” who had been hiding prior to all of this had finally emerged. He began driving this juggernaut-like vehicle that was loaded with several canisters of acid around the tomb. He placed these canisters in specific spots around the central pit to use in a vile ritual of some sort. I did everything I could to stop him, but the vehicle was too sturdy, and I somehow inherently knew that after the canisters of acid had been placed onto the floor, it was extremely dangerous to go near them.

All of the shambling abominations had been dealt with throughout this ordeal. The only ones who remained were myself, my friend, and the enemy. The mastermind finally began his ritual which caused the green glow illuminating the crypt to dim and die out. Instead, the room was now illuminated with a sanguine red color coming from a floating gateway or sigil that had suddenly appeared! This sigil slowly opened outward like a set of double doors. Finally, from this newly opened gateway, a devil emerged!

For all intents and purposes, he looked like any other man. He had jet black hair, wore a red posh suit, and looked human through and through. Despite this, I instantly recognized him for what he truly was… in a familiar sense. I knew he was a devil because I somehow knew him personally. I distinctly remember uttering “Wait, you?!” when I saw him. He recognized me as well! When he finally noticed me, he seemed genuinely happy to see me, and even referred to me as “old friend.”

By the point, the mastermind had disappeared completely. I am unsure what became of him. Now that a devil had been summoned, I laid eyes on my friend and told him we needed to leave ASAP. I felt a sense of urgency to leave, but strangely enough not out of a sense of fear. It was more like there was nothing else for us to do, or nothing else we could do. The two of us eventually made it topside and rested in the sun. Shortly after, the devil emerged from the tomb. He greeted us and even spoke with me cordially for a moment before leaving peacefully to go who knows where.
