Monster

Dream Journal Entry – December 22nd, 2024

I found myself in a large ballroom of sorts that was very crowded. An innumerable number of people had gathered to participate in a “scavenger hunt” across the city, and we were all waiting for our instructions, or the signal to begin, or something along those lines. Everyone was chatting in the meantime.

During this time, I had run into a former coworker of mine and began conversing with her. She told me “You know, I always thought you were a bad person” before waving her hands in a strange way, as if using magic to “test” me somehow. When that was over, she looked at me and said “I was wrong. You’re not a bad guy. You’re a monster.” Afterward, she looked terrified and began causing a scene. She got the attention of a good number of people in the area before barging out of the ballroom into the pouring rain outside.

My initial reaction was to hide away in the crowd and pretend her outburst had nothing to do with me. After a moment, however, I conceded. I threw my hood over my head and gave chase, sprinting after her into the pouring rain outside. I scoured the empty streets and alleyways searching for her, but she was nowhere to be found. Eventually, after either exhausting my strength or realizing my search was futile, I gave up and stood alone in an empty alleyway of that dark city as the pouring rain continued to fall on me.

One strange thing I had noted about this dream in particular was the rain itself. In this dream, I could distinctly feel how heavy and cold the rain was as I stood in that alleyway.
